ICAI Collaborates with CBSE to Introduce Commerce Skill-Based Courses
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), through its Committee on Career Counselling, inked a Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Skill Education, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, to promote commerce-grounded skill courses for scholars across the country. This initiative aligns with the growing demand for the best online courses, focusing on equipping students with industry-relevant skills.
The ICAI-CBSE alliance emphasizes developing commerce-related competencies, especially in BFSI (Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance), which are critical in today’s job market. By integrating specialized training, the collaboration aims to enhance students’ employability through free online courses and industry-aligned learning modules.
Under this joint initiative, ICAI will provide expert advice on course content, syllabus development, study materials, training modules, and career planning. It will also actively engage in workshops and training sessions organized by CBSE to focus on educating students about career options in accounting and related fields, creating pathways for commerce students.
ICAI President CA. Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating:
“Subscribing to this scowl with CBSE is a step toward improving the professional development landscape for scholars all over the country. ICAI seeks to promote commerce-grounded skill training through this relationship and equip scholars with industry-aligned capabilities. This cooperation aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and professional requirements, opening up promising careers in accounting and finance.”
The collaboration also includes awareness programs for school leaders, teachers, and management teams across CBSE-affiliated schools in India. These programs will highlight the value of commerce-grounded skill training and the relevance of pursuing top trending courses in India within the BFSI industry. Additionally, CBSE will conduct capacity-building sessions for teachers handling commerce-related subjects to equip them with the necessary skills to teach these courses effectively, promoting access to free online courses for educators as well.
ICAI’s efforts are further reinforced through its Memorandums of Understanding with 85 universities, colleges, and educational associations. These partnerships stimulate academic performance, innovative research, and the exchange of knowledge, enabling students to access the top trending courses in India, ultimately fostering a skilled and knowledgeable workforce.
